Aircraft Performance Group (APG) has released a new application called iPreFlight™ for the iPad. This innovative app combines APG's Runway Analysis (RWA) and Weight and Balance (WB) system with a flight planning module. one unique feature of iPreFlight™ is its Max Payload Estimator (MPE™), which allows users to easily and quickly calculate the available payload for a planned flight.

iPreFlight™ has been specifically designed to run on the iPad, using the latest technology available. It offers a user-friendly experience with minimal input required. By taking into account takeoff/landing performance limitations, manufacturer WB requirements, and flight planning constraints, iPreFlight™ calculates the available payload for a given city pairing. The flight planning element factor includes operational data from manufacturers and current weather forecasts to accurately calculate the fuel required for the flight. This fuel calculation takes into consideration factors such as fuel burn optimization, reserve fuel, alternate fuel, and holding fuel.

Besides RWA, WB, and flight planning functionalities, iPreFlight™ also allows users to prepare a Flight Book in advance of their flight. This book includes all textual and graphical weather products relevant to the planned flight. Users can store the Flight Book on their iPad and have it automatically updated as weather products are revised. As departure time approaches, users can easily create a Flight Release document that consolidates all relevant information including RWA, WB, flight plan, and weather products. The Flight Release document can be emailed, saved on the iPad, or easily shared with other crewmembers using another iPad.

iPreFlight™ streamlines multiple preflight functions into one comprehensive program. It ensures accurate takeoff and landing performance limits, correct aircraft loading, and enables pilots to quickly calculate payload and fuel requirements for their flights. Additionally, iPreFlight™ allows pilots to make last-minute adjustments with ease. The Flight Release document can be saved on the iPad for in-flight review and shared with other crewmembers.

Note: To use the iPreFlight™ application, users must already be existing APG customers with a Runway Analysis (Point Calculation) and Weight and Balance services account.
